Falzon Service Station Limited
Falzon Service Station Limited is the flagship company of the
Group, and was the first entity in Malta to be given a bunker
operator’s licence by the Maltese authorities. This company is
today one of the most reputable bunker traders and suppliers on
the Maltese Islands.
As a bunker trader, Falzon Service Station Limited offers a
range of grades of bunker fuels and blends of the highest
quality at prices that compete favourably not only with those
offered by their local counterparts but also by their
Mediterranean neighbours. Major brand lubricating oils are also
offered in drums and also in bulk in dedicated road tanker/barge
compartments. Bunker supplies are effected by barge and/or road
tanker, and all bunker-related activities within the Group are
self-supported. In fact the Falzon Group currently owns and
operates five bunker barges of varying capacities as well as a
fleet of road tankers, all equipped, manned and operated to the
highest of levels, with paramount consideration given to safety
issues and to the protection of the environment.
The Group also
offers its barges and road-tankers for the carriage of petroleum
products to third parties requiring fuel transportation
services.
San Lucian Oil Company Limited
Another member of the Falzon Group is the recently acquired San
Lucian Oil Company Limited, which company is also a frontrunner
in the Maltese bunkering industry and is an established favourite among bunker customers of international repute. San
Lucian Oil Co Ltd owns and operates one of the largest storage
terminals of petroleum products on the Island located at Qajjenza, in the Bay of Marsaxlokk, in close proximity to the
Malta Freeport.
The San Lucian Terminal is a modern installation that can supply
the various petroleum products required by vessels crossing the
Mediterranean, namely gasoil, a full range of fuel oil and
marine lubricating oils. The tanks hold an overall capacity of
about 45,000 cubic metres of the different oil products, while
the terminal is equipped with facilities ensuring operational
flexibility, such as a boiler and electronic blending system.
Although the facilities at the San Lucian terminal are currently
used only for the storage of bunker fuels, with the imminent liberalisation of the petroleum industry in Malta the full
potential of the terminal can be realised by its utilisation for
the storage of all petroleum products destined for the entire
Maltese market. This factor will undoubtedly catapult the Falzon
Group as a supplier of petroleum products to the land-based
industry, an industry as yet unexploited by the private sector
in Malta.
Hire and Transport Limited
Hire and Transport Limited is a major supporting company for the
operations of the Falzon Group. Together with other Group member
companies, Hire and Transport Ltd provides four bunker barges of
differing capacities for bunkering operations, as well as a
fleet of road tankers used for servicing not only the bunker
needs but also the land-based supplies of the Group.
Starting with the acquisitions of the sister ships MT
Oilfield in 1993 (350 metric tons) and MT Oilstone in 1994 (340
metric tons) the company proceeded to meet the ever increasing
demand for bunkers by acquiring the MT Spiro F in 1998 (1,050
metric tons) and the MT San Lucian Prima in 2001. This last
vessel was taken out of service in 2004 and was replaced by the
MT Santa Tereza, a 3,500 metric ton capacity vessel. The year
2004 ended on a high note for the Group’s bunkering fleet with
its latest acquisition, the MT Santa Elena. This vessel has a
2,800 metric ton capacity and boasts maximum pumping rates of
700/800 metric tons /hour.
In order to effectively man the Falzon Group barges, Hire and
Transport Ltd is constantly involved in the recruitment of
highly trained officers, crew and shore support personnel from
various local and foreign crewing agencies. These recruitment
operations are an integral part of the commitment of the Falzon
Group to maximise efficiency, safety and professionalism in the
rendering of its various services.
Besides being used for the Group’s own activities, the barges
and road tankers owned by the Falzon Group are also offered to
third parties for their petroleum products carriage
requirements.
